Sloth is a manifestation of sluggishness and inactivity.  
Sloth is a moral vice.  
Slothfulness prevents a person from self-improvement, which leads to a slow but irreversible degradation of his personality. A lazy person is socially dangerous, because he can promote "such" way of life, thereby involving others in this "whirlpool". The person deliberately refuses to overcome obstacles in his life path, changing himself and the world for the worse.
